COMMISSION FAQ

Everything you need to know before requesting a custom piece. If you still have questions after reading through the FAQ, feel free to submit a commission request and tell me what you have in mind.

What types of commissions do you accept?
I accept a wide range of custom commissions, including portraits, couples and family artwork, memorial and tribute pieces, original art concepts, custom sneakers and boots, hard hats, clothing, furniture, and other paintable objects. If you have something unusual in mind, send the idea anyway—I enjoy creating pieces that are outside the ordinary.

How much does a custom commission cost?
Pricing depends on the size, complexity, materials, level of detail, and type of project. Because every commission is different, final pricing is provided after I review your request. You can submit your idea through the Custom Commission form to receive a quote.

Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes. A deposit may be required before work begins and will be applied toward the final price of your commission. The amount and payment details will be discussed and agreed upon before the project begins.

How long does a commission take?
Completion time varies depending on the size and complexity of the project and my current workload. If you need the piece for a birthday, anniversary, holiday, memorial, or other specific date, please include that date with your request. I will let you know whether the requested deadline is possible before accepting the commission.

Can you work from photographs or reference images?
Absolutely. Reference photos are especially helpful for portraits, memorial pieces, customized objects, and projects involving specific people, colors, clothing, themes, or details. Clear, high-quality photographs will usually produce the best results.

Can I request changes after you've started?
Minor adjustments may be possible depending on how far the project has progressed. Major changes after work has begun may require an additional charge, especially if they involve reworking completed portions of the piece. We'll make sure the overall direction is clear before I begin.

Do you customize sneakers, hard hats, clothing, and other objects?
Yes. My commissions aren't limited to traditional canvas artwork. I've customized footwear, clothing, hard hats, helmets, furniture, pumpkins, business displays, and other objects. If it can reasonably and safely be painted or customized, send me the idea and we'll see what we can create.

Can I provide the item I want customized?
Yes. In many cases, you can provide the shoes, boots, hard hat, clothing, furniture, or other item you want customized. We'll discuss the condition and suitability of the item before the project begins. If I need to supply the item instead, its cost will be included in your quote.

Do you ship commissioned artwork?
Shipping may be available depending on the size, weight, and type of commission. Shipping or delivery costs are separate from the artwork price unless otherwise stated. Larger or unusually shaped pieces may require local pickup or delivery arrangements.

Can you recreate artwork you've already made?
You can request something inspired by a previous piece, but I prefer each commission to have its own character. Rather than making an exact duplicate, we can use the original piece as inspiration while changing colors, details, composition, or other elements to create something specifically for you.

Will my commissioned artwork be one-of-a-kind?
Custom commissions are created specifically around your request, references, ideas, and preferences. Because the work is created by hand, each finished piece naturally has its own individual characteristics.

How do I get started?
Visit the Custom Commissions page and complete the request form with as much information as possible about your idea, preferred size, budget, deadline, and any reference images you have. I'll review the request and we can discuss the details, pricing, and next steps before any work begins.
